Nutritionist Jesús Vázquez on weight loss: "It's not fat or carbohydrates that make you gain weight."

It's undeniable that today's population is increasingly interested in their own health. Proof of this is the number of citizens who regularly exercise daily, as well as those who complement it with a healthy and varied diet , providing their bodies with extra protection against the onset of future illnesses.

Despite the efforts of many users, this may not be enough to take care of themselves. Lack of knowledge about the factors that cause changes in our bodies, weight gain or loss being one of the most common, is a key factor when it comes to making real changes to our bodies and implementing them correctly.

In this regard, many experts are sharing valuable information on social media for users who find themselves in these situations. One of them is nutritionist Dr. Jesús Vázquez, who has explained in a very simple way through his TikTok account what factors cause our bodies to gain or lose weight.

The culprit is insulin

The professional is clear from the very beginning of the video. “It's not fat or carbohydrates that make you gain weight. It's insulin that makes you gain weight. Our body is either filling up stores or emptying them; there's no other. And it's insulin that gives the order to store. If there's insulin , there's no way to use the store. It's only storing, saving, ” explains Dr. Vázquez.

He notes that all plant-based foods , except for oil, contain carbohydrates in varying quantities and absorption rates . In this regard, the pancreas is responsible for producing insulin to remove excess glucose from the blood, which is harmful to cells. To do this, it stores this excess in the form of glycogen and fat . The expert points to cases in which we constantly generate insulin.

Due to overeating, fat storage begins to skyrocket, which in turn leads to subsequent weight gain. This is why nutritionists recommend stopping frequent snacking between meals so that our body's stores can be emptied properly and without problems.
